SEAMS MAGAZINE

Magazine spreads for an article in a hypothetical design magazine Seams entitled Being Good. The brief was to choose an article from a list of design-related pieces and create a series of magazine spreads that use a visual metaphor to tell a story. This particular article begins with the notion that it may seem easy to know how to be an ethically good designer—that it seems “black and white.” The spreads leverage this cliche, directly relating this metaphor to design by spray painting various "design" objects in black or white. The design and composition of the overall piece use symmetry and contrast to amplify the theme of duality. This project received the G+S Editorial Design Award in the Registered Graphic Designers Student Awards 2020.

The article Being Good was originally printed in Eye on Design in 2007, written by Lucinne Roberts.
